OFS-6070 Silane
XIAMETER® OFS-6070 Silane is a chemical monomer that reacts with water to form a silanetriol and methanol. The silanol that is formed is able to condense with available hydroxyl groups on the surface of inorganic minerals such as talc, clay and silica or to condense with other silanol monomers to form a siloxane resin. The chemical formula for XIAMETER® OFS-6070 Silane is (CH3O)3SiCH3, which is designated methyltrimethoxysilane.
When used as a pigment treatment, XIAMETER® OFS-6070 Silane is typically added at concentrations of 0.5 to 1.0 weight percent, based on total solids. XIAMETER® OFS-6070 Silane should be added directly to the powder in a powder mixer. XIAMETER® OFS-6070 Silane may also be reduced to 10 percent active in methanol or isopropanol, and then added at 0.5 to 1.0 percent active to the pigment in a powder mixer.
